Easter Egg Hunt with a Twist

Use QR Codes for an Updated Approach to a Timeless Tradition

Growing up my mother created some pretty epic Easter Egg Hunts. What started in our home in the early years included clues from well-known nursery rhymes. My brother and I would frantically work together to read the clues and quickly decide where it led us to next. We continued this tradition well into our college years because eventually the clues had us drive all around town looking for our next clue, we even found an egg once on a specific bookshelf in Barnes in Nobles!

It is those fond memories that make me want to create a similar experience for my own children. This year with the stay-at-home order I needed to find a creative way to stay at home but still make it memorable.

This hunt has either the traditional clues that you can use in your Easter Egg Hunt or the updated version with QR codes. To use the hunt your child will need a QR reader which can be downloaded for free as an app. Or most newer phones have a built-in QR reader in the camera. Simply open your camera and point to the QR code, if it is able to read it you will see a popup.

The link will then direct your child to the clue.

There are 24 clues, but it is not necessary to use them all. Simply pick which clues you want to use and cut those corresponding numbered QR codes out and place into eggs and hide in their designated spots. The clues include both indoor and outdoor clues.

Print off the clues and QR codes here.

If you don't have access to a QR reader you can just print off the text clues and place those in eggs to create the scavenger hunt.

Happy hunting!
