Ann Arbor Girl is Changing the World One Bracelet at a Time

By Nicole Barragato, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Ann Arbor May 19, 2020

Izzy is not your typical 11 year old, she has set her aim high and is focused on making the world a better place one bracelet at a time. The idea started this past January when Izzy created a 'save the turtle' bracelet, her goal was to convince the Ann Arbor School District to discontinue the use of plastic water bottles at school functions. The idea took off and so did Izzy's reach of compassion for local organizations.

For Valentine's Day Izzy supported one of her favorite rescue organizations: The Bird Center of Washtenaw County and was able to raise $375 to be donated as a Valentine's gift). Izzy has also created a bracelets in support of A2Neighbors and Starry Skies Rescue Center.

All of Izzy's wonderful bracelets
can be purchases on her
 Etsy store.

Izzy's parents are super supportive and help with the purchase of her supplies so that all of the proceeds can go to her mission of supporting non-profits.

I recently purchased two bracelets and was super impressed! Not only are the bracelets cute and whimsical, but they come nicely tied to a card giving all of the details about the organization that it is in support of. An envelope is included so it is perfect if you are giving a bracelet as a gift. Izzy has been so thoughtful that even the card and envelope are recycled and biodegradable. The bracelet is made of cotton cord and a recycled alloy charm.

After hearing more about Izzy and all that she is doing Macaroni Kid Ann Arbor wanted to do something special for her. We are proud to announce that Izzy is our Purple Daisy Winner for the month of May. The Purple Daisy Award is given to kids who are changing the world and who deserve to be recognized for their efforts. Thanks Izzy for your effort in caring for the planet and non-profit organizations.

If you know of a local kid who deserves to be recognized please nominate them for the Purple Daisy Award.

Way to go Izzy! Keep up the great work!
