County Park Review: Independence Lake County Park

By Nicole Barragato, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Ann Arbor June 9, 2020

Now that it is summer and the weather is so nice, Independence Lake County Park has so much to offer! From recreational activities to experiencing diverse habitats this park is a must-see for the entire family!

Summer Features Include:

🚲Biking
🛶Boating
🎣Fishing
👟Hiking
🍉Picnicking
🏊🏼‍♂️Swimming
⛳️Disc Golf
☀️Playground

The park includes wetlands, prairies, great stands of oaks, in additional to the beach and lakefront. The park offers launch site for canoes, kayaks, and small motorized boats. Paddleboats and rowboats are also available to rent.

My girls very much enjoy going to this beach! The beach is clean and well maintained. It is not a large beach, but there is plenty of room since it is never very crowded. I also appreciate that there are well maintained bathrooms and the concession area features grilled foods, healthy choices, and fruit smoothies if our snacks get consumed too quickly.

County residents can enjoy this park for a fee of $6/day or $30/annually. Non-county residents are $10/day or $45/annually. The park also includes the Blue Heron Bay Spray Park, but unfortunately that is a separate fee. Thankfully it is far enough from the beach that the girls were not bugging to do that instead.

This park also includes nature programs by appointment and winter activities.
