The Weekly - June 16, 2020

🌈 WEEKLY UPDATE β˜€οΈ

This week I am so thankful because the grandparents watched the girls for not one, but two whole nights! It was so wonderful to sleep in and go on a date with my husband! We found a local restaurant and enjoyed eating dinner on their patio. After months of staying at home this seemed like a huge luxury. That is definitely a positive that came out of the quarantine for me. I take time to appreciate the little things like stores being open later and going out to eat so much more now.

I also thought that once things opened back up I would be running out to do all of the fun things with my kiddos. I am finding though that I am caught in this weird limbo, wanting to go out and do things, but also wanting to stay safe. I think actually more than wanting to stay safe, if I am honest, I am more worried about the opinions of others if I go out and do things.

Social media has become a free-for-all of opinions. Even if not asked for, usually someone will voice their stance. Before COVID-19 I was already fearful of posting on social media, but now even posting something simple like: had an awesome day at the park, gives me great anxiety. I would say I could just get off of social media, but that is how I communicate with all of you and it really is a great way to help parents find events for the whole family.

There is so much information floating around these days on the internet that I know I am completely confused as to what is real anymore. I don't think I am alone in feeling that way. So I think the greater response is maybe to just pause before we pass judgement on someone else and the choices that they are making for their family. At Macaroni Kid I will continue to post both virtual and in-person events and I want you to feel free to make the best choice for your family whatever that may be.

Hugs,

Nicole
