The Weekly - June 23, 2020

How have you all been staying cool on these super hot June days? My girls love all things water! So we pretty much live at the beach or in our small pool in our backyard. We have rigged a pretty elaborate system using the jungle gym slide, a foam surfboard, and a giant inflatable unicorn! We are really missing splash pads, but I guess our apparatus makes for a pretty great second option. 

We just moved to the area last November after spending the past two years in West Lafayette, Indiana. I am so homesick for all of my friends back in Indiana. I think it has been the perfect storm of moving, then winter, followed by COVID-19 which has made me feel super disconnected to my new community. I am an introvert so putting myself out there is definitely hard. Recently, I have been feeling very lonely and like I don't have a Mom Tribe to live life with.

I have made a couple of solid friends, but with only having two close friends, I constantly feel like I will become a burden to them by wanting to hangout too much. The reality though is that I just don't have my people yet to call on to spend time with. Of course, everywhere I go it looks like moms already have their friend groups decided and I am just intruding on their turf. I know that this is most likely in my mind, but have you ever been there?  

Most likely, this is a phase and it will pass, but when you are in the thick of it, it really does seem dark. So today be encouraged if you too are searching for your Mom Tribe. Know that you are not alone. Your feelings of discontentment are real. Also 2020 has been a super weird year in many ways and this too shall pass. Just remember....
