Playground of the Week: Mary Beth Doyle Park

By Nicole Barragato, Publisher, Macaroni Kid Ann Arbor July 28, 2020

Mary Beth Doyle Park is an 81.4 acre park. It includes a small playground, walking paths, and woods and wetlands. It is a great place to collect wildflowers or to watch for wildlife. There is also a pond that is fun to walk around and look for nesting turtles.

PARKING

  • Limited parking at Packard and Birch Hollow (closest to playground).
  • Click here for a park map.

SPECIAL FEATURES & PLAYGROUND NOTES

  • The playground is a unique climbing structure full of webs, balancing obstacles, and bars.
  • The coloring makes this playground look Spiderman Themed which is a unique feature.
  • Some of the bars move in circles which became favorites of my girls to be pushed on.

  • There are 2 regular swings, 1 baby swing, and 1 adapted swing.
  • The park includes 2 bouncers and a teeter totter.
  • Close to airport so we saw and heard lots of airplanes.

  • Playground is covered in mulch throughout.
  • There are a lot of prickly weeds around so I would definitely wear tennis shoes.
  • Park includes a basketball court and a disc golf course.
  • The pond was also a favorite feature.

SEATING

  • Various picnic tables and benches throughout, including nice shaded areas.

BATHROOMS & OTHER AMENITIES

  • No bathrooms available.
  • No drinking fountains.

TRAILS

  • The park includes both paved and unpaved trails throughout.
  • Excellent paved trails for strollers or bikes.
