Due to COVID-19 several of the options at Howell Nature Center are not currently available. However, we had a great time recently visiting the tree house which is still open. This play center is ADA Accessible and offers a ton of things to explore, climb, and see.
PARKING
- Parking is available at the Welcome Center (short walk to tree house).

SPECIAL FEATURES & PLAYGROUND NOTES
- The tree house looks like something right out of Swiss Family Robinson.
- The tree house is wheelchair accessible.
- An instant favorite was the swinging bridge.
- There is 1 regular swing.
- Other features include: stump jump, spiderweb climber, and musical instruments.
- A sandpit includes two slides and a rock climbing wall.
- Playground is covered in dirt and mulch throughout.
- The park includes a great stream that my girls enjoyed walking up and down the waterfalls (plan ahead and bring a change of clothes, also note that it was not slippery at all).
- This play structure is a nature lovers dream for sure.
SEATING
- Benches and picnic tables are available around the tree house and the stream.
- All areas are nicely shaded.
BATHROOMS & OTHER AMENITIES
- Full bathrooms are available by the Welcome Center.
- A port-a-potty is available closer to the stream.
TRAILS
- The park includes lots of trails including a short fairy trail by the tree house.
- Wild wonders trail is short and usually includes animals, but does not currently.
- Main trail is 1.3 miles.
Admission:
- $6 for adults
- $4 for kids ages 3-17
- Free if you have a Nature Center Pass (reciprocal with other nature centers, view list here)
