🍂 WEEKLY UPDATE 🏈 |
So my three year old has this new thing that she is doing... Whenever I get particularly stressed or short with her she asks "Mama are you happy?" In her short amount of time on this planet she already recognizes that there are different emotions and that when I am behaving stress or angry that I am not happy. She goes even further when I respond with a "No," she replies "Mama I want you to be happy!" As if she is almost pleading for my happiness. She knows that happiness is essential and she wants that for me and my life.
It will be interesting after the pandemic passes to she the long term effects that it had on our happiness and that of our children. I am an introverted person, but even I am to the point where I am so hungry for community. I want to be able to interact with other moms and to have our children play. To be able to plan fun activities without worrying about social distancing.
More-so though I am grappling with the idea of how to be happy right now. If things truly never fully go back to normal, if this is the new normal, how can I honestly answer yes to my three year old that I am happy? Maybe the answer is as simple as a line from one of my favorite book characters.

This week I am going to look for ways to let my light shine. Because maybe the key to happiness needs to start with my heart and the actions will then surely follow. I hope that you have a great week full of light and happiness!
